The caravan site is for Caravan Club members only. To join phone 0800 328 6635 or visit www.caravanclub.co.uk.
Advance booking is required October - April, and recommended for weekends and school holidays May to September.
We are on the edge of Great Chesterford on the B184. |
| The caravan site is 2 acres in size, mainly lawn, surrounded by high hedges with a few specimen trees. The ground is well drained, so we rarely have any problem getting caravans and camper vans on or off the site.
Each pitch has an electric hook-up (10amp max electricity supply), a tap and it's own greywater soakaway system. |
The caravan site has a chemical disposal point, plus a WC.
Because of the problem with freezing, from December to March the WC is not available, and there is only one tap for drinking water available. |
A stone-reinforced grass track loops around the pitches - your pitch can be approached in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction, depending on which way you want to face when you get to the pitch.
Each pitch has a level concrete strip – drive your car over this and stop when your caravan wheels are on it. Camper vans – put either 2 front or 2 rear wheels on concrete strip, or park somewhere over the concrete strip. |
The putting/ lawn bowls area is free to use. We have a few clubs and balls you may borrow (in the bag next to the WC). You will need to bring your own woods if you would like to play bowls.
Wildlife you may see on the caravan site include:
Sparrowhawks
and
Muntjac deer |
| Squirrels and Rabbits - usually digging holes in the putting area! |
Green woodpeckers (often seen looking for insects in the grass). | |
| The caravan site is on the edge of the village of Great Chesterford - click on the aerial photo of Great Chesterford to see a larger image.
Public footpaths run alongside two sides of the caravan site, allowing walks into the countryside or into the village (go through pedestrian gate at bottom of field). The Icknield Way long distance path runs past the caravan site. See www.chesterford.org.uk/walks.htm for more information. |
